Private Cruises to Virgin Gorda,
BVI: Virgin Gorda is known for its most celebrated
beach - The Baths - an intriguing grouping of huge granite
rocks framing grottos filled with sea water.
While geologists ponder the origins of these mysterious
boulders, swimmers and snorkelers refresh themselves
in the cool waters of hidden pools and secret passages.
Little Fort National Park located south of the Yacht
Harbor, is the site of a Spanish fort whose stone walls
are still partially intact.
This 36-acre area also functions as a wildlife sanctuary. There
is also the abandoned Copper Mine (mined by Cornish
miners between 1838 and 1867, and perhaps even earlier
by the Spanish) on the southeast tip of the island where
a boiler stack and other 19th century stone buildings
can still be observed.
The view from Gorda Peak gives a breath-taking panorama
of all the Virgin Islands. There are several excellent
dive & snorkel sites around Virgin Gorda and many
secluded anchorages such as Mountain Point, Savannah
Bay and Long Bay. Gorda Sound, to the North of the Island
is a large bay protected from all sides. Home to The
Bitter End Yacht Club, Drakes anchorage and Biras Creek
Resort. Wonderful snorkeling on Eustatia Reef - where
turtles are often sighted. Deep Bay with it's honesty
bar and the beaches on Prickly Pear are stunning. Close
by are The Dogs, 4 small islands renowned for
their magnificent diving and snorkeling.
